caddilac_fan42069 Get ready for him to be obsessed and protective of his new sibling. Rarely will the baby leave his sight. It will be touch and go at first, lots of gentle nuzzles that might go a little too far. But he will be fine.

OGpancake88 Play lots of sounds that a baby would make... crying, banging, baby monitor static, electronic toys, rattles, etc. My girl knew the difference between her stuffed animals and babies. Introducing baby was the easy part. It's when my kid started to walk, that's when it got complicated.

OGkateebee Our neighbors probably thought we were weird but we took the dog on some walks with the stroller before the baby was born so he could get the hang of where to walk.

ChaZZZZahC I thought crying baby noises would acclimate the dog better, but I dont think it helped one bit. Just now, you dont have to force the dog on the baby and vice versa, also I found it best to make the boundary clear where's the baby's space versus the dogs space. Pitties are smart dogs at baseline, they'll get that the little one is precious cargo relatively quickly, but the space is paramount for you and your spouses sanity.

cvalerie8 I made a very large effort to keep my boys included when the baby arrived. Showed them her room, when she came home in her seat. Allowed them gently and calmly on the couch with me and her. I also still walked them everyday and tried to keep their routine as normal as possible so they didn't feel left out or left behind. She is 10 months old now and they all love each other.

PleasantThoughts We had them away from the house for the first couple days while we got settled and during that time sent a couple of her used blankets with our friends who were taking care of the dogs so they could get used to the smells them introduced them slowly. Always kept at least a hand on the baby or made sure they were out of reach whenever they were close.

ImInTheFutureAlso My really anxious dog struggled. We had to baby gate her away from the baby for maybe a week or so because she just wanted to sniff and paw at him so enthusiastically. She was so nervous and wanted to investigate until she understood. Eventually she relaxed and now they get along fine. Our others all just sniffed him for a second and then were pretty chill with him.

overcaffinatedrn I had my in laws bring a blanket from the hospital as well! We let her sniff her a lot and lick her feetsies. We noticed that every time she cried the first few days home, the dog would get scared and run out of the room, so once the baby went back to sleep we would get her and give her extra pets!

Obvious Tip9480 In addition to what others have said about not leaving them alone together, giving them a safe space when they're overwhelmed, setting and sticking to boundaries, etc. - please remember your pittie is your baby too. They'll look to you and follow your lead to navigate the family dynamic changes together. While

DarthSamurai Our pittie was so protective. My husband took a baby blanket we had baby wrapped in at the hospital and had all the pets sniff it before we came home. Our pittie would "stand guard" and sit between and pack n play and the rest of the pets. Didn't growl or anything just moved herself in order to block them from getting close. We reassured her it was OK. Whenever someone was holding baby, she'd sit near them. It was sweet.

AlarmShoddy361 My pitty was amazing with my daughter. He was much nicer to her than she was to him. He would sneak gently up to cuddle, she would get upset. He was very patient in trying. As a toddler, she would cold slap him across the face for trying. He adored her until his dying day. She ended up loving him too but it took a while.
