20 Signs Your Canine Child Completely Adores You

As pupper pawrents it is safe to assume that our doggo kids love us. It is in their nature to love us, but what about complete and utter adoration? Well, that is an entirely different department, and one which we shall uncover in this list.

I was slightly surprised to find this debate on Reddit's r/DogTraining subreddit as the subject is not especially tied to dog training of any kind, but you can see how if you invest time in your pupper, training being one of those things that you spend time on, your doggo will likely come to adore you. Nonetheless, I wanted to take a moment to try and tell the difference between a pupper who is incredibly happy to have you as their food provider versus a doggo who loves you for you. The difference is immense and let's just say that if you do not have the latter then you might as well have just gotten a cat instead of a dog.

So I gathered up these gems from pupper pawrents whose doggos dote over them in several special and unique ways to show you what pupper adoration looks like. Because at the end of the day we want to know that we have spent a life with our doggos that is full of love and adoration. So if you know what it looks like but you do not have it yet, you can at least work towards getting it.

    complikaity Eye contact, checking in, coming when called over distractions, accidentally leaving the front door open and going to work, only to come home 8 hours later to him chilling on the porch. (Looked at the camera- he came out, saw no car was home, and plopped down. Didn't even acknowledge people, bikers, animals, cars, or even go into the yard to pe - he sat and waited.)

  • Ok this is such an interesting one and I really want to take a moment to appreciate just how intense this one is. Until I read this I had always felt super awkward when this one dog I sometimes take care off makes direct eye contact with me. Now for context I am the dog’s uncle, but still we do not know each other that well and only spend the odd week together when his pawrents are on holiday. So it is rather mindblowing to think that eye contact might actually be a sign of deep affection. It doesn’t make it any less uncomfortable when it happens, but it’s nice to know I guess.

    Topcornbiskie Mine takes my shoe or flip flop and walks around with it trying to get me to chase him. He doesn't destroy or chew on them, it's just his way of telling me he wants my attention.

    Fun_Independent9201 Strong recall, which I didn't train with treats, just a lot of affection because my pup wasn't really food motivated. I knew he bonded to me when he's off leash in a dog park having the time of his life but still chooses to check on me and comes running when I call his name (even if it means it's time to go).

    Lou_Garoo He kind of purrs when I pet him. Especially if he is very relaxed. Sometimes we just lay and gaze into each others eyes. He always has to be on me or touching me. His perfect day would be a morning walk, followed by sitting on my lap all day while I work, followed by playing and then sleeping so close to me that I can't move. I normally wake up to his face on the pillow next to mine.

  • I’m sorry what? Your dog purrs? How in the heck do I teach a dog to purr? I need this in my life desperately. The only thing that dogs have that cats do not in my opinion is the purr. A vibration and sound so soothing that it has been scientifically proven time and again to be the pawfect way to fully relax. So if you are telling me there is a dog who has learned to do this, I really need to know how.

    Fry_Cook_On_Venus My pup (7 yo Rottie/lab mix) is very good about checking in with us when we go to a dog park. Sometimes we'll drift away from where he saw us last to use the bathroom or throw out a pop bag. When he loses track of us he starts looking, and we watch him searching for us, then gets 10/10 excited when he spots us again, and runs over to us like we've been gone for a week.

    Thorking My partner and I were recently at a dog park with our boy. He generally is so enamored with the other dogs he isn't the best at recall in those moments. We had met there separately and I had to leave first. As | was leaving, my dog ran up to me and wanted to go with me instead of stay there with the other dogs. And he LOVES playing with other dogs. Made my day.

    [deleted] By dog escaped out of the back yard and she just came to the front door to bark and scratch to be let in. Haha she didn't want to go anywhere except be with me. I also saw her once at dog beach when she wandered a little too far and lost track of me. She absolutely PANICKED. I watched for a few moments to see what she would do and she frantically ran up to every tall brunette on the beach

    raven_darkseid When I come home or even just get out of the bathroom after a shower, my dog acts like it is the best moment of his life. He is well-adjusted and doesn't have any signs of separation an y, but he does miss his mama. There is just sheer happiness radiating from him in that moment.

    cjep3 Little girl tucks all 4 paws under my body when we go to sleep, then gives a full body sigh and goes to sleep. And she sleeps as close to me as possible, always touching. Since she is 10lbs, that's a lot of trust. She visually checks in with me constantly when she is unsure. And she will love on anyone but i get full body relax sploot and we pet and love, she won't do that with others.
