  • | 35M was dating my ex GF 29F for a year until recently when I broke up with her for not listening to me. It start when we were driving in a neighborhood and she littered at a stop sign and an elderly man called her out on it she was clearly in the wrong. The situation escalated between the elderly man and my ex gf into a shouting match and she for whatever reason tries to get out the car to confront the elderly man, I yelled at her to get her a

  • back in the car and we took off. I was so upset at her telling her she's writing checks with her mouth that I have to cash if it got physical, I'm not scared of having to fight but I'm also not going to fight someone when she's clearly in the wrong for something so petty, and she ran her mouth and escalated the situation for literally no reason. She kept brushing it off like it was nothing, like this isn't the first time where's she's ran her mouth escalating things
  • to other people, but thankfully nothing has ever gotten physical. I ended up breaking up with her about a hour later after the incident, she and all her friends are calling an a h le for breaking up with her over something "small".
  • OfficialBroccoliRob NTA. Imagine being so committed to defending your right to litter that you're willing to fight a senior citizen over it. That's wild.
  • Specialist Sorbet476 Sounds reasonable to me. I certainly wouldn't be dealing with it that early in a relationship. An issue waiting to happen.
  • Disastrous_Bison_910 NTA I would've broken up with her for littering. And I would never put a man I like let alone love into a situation where he would need to get physical. That is not adult behavior.

  • kipsterdude NTA? That's not even about not listening. She's escalating. I mean, I get it. In my 20s and 30s I was just walking around ped off at everyone and everything, but you're right about her writing checks she can't cash. She sounds awful. Littering then yelling at an old guy who called her out? Good riddance, I say.
  • ForwardPlenty She sounds like a high maintenance nightmare. Really it is some kind of personality defect to litter and then get in an argument when called out on it. You are much better off without that kind of drama in your life.
  • Vividination NTA. I would've broken up just for the littering
  • Senator_Bink She couldn't get you to play "let's you and them fight," so she's getting her friends to play, instead. NTA, dodged a bullet.
  • your-mom04605 NTA Your gf sounds kinda unhinged. But anyway, it's always ok to break up with a gf/bf at any time, for any reason, or no reason at all
  • SadPersonality4803 NTA, block her, her friends and move on. Good job for protecting and prioritizing your peace and safety
  • BulbasaurRanch I would've broken up with her for the littering alone. Any person pathetic enough to throw trash from a car is not a person worth knowing. The rest is just extra reasons. NTA
  • mercy_fulfate you don't have to date anyone and can break up for any reason.
  • HanasRain3520 Not the type of person I'd want to say is my friend. You seem to have a moral compass and she sure doesn't. Thankfully you see the signs. Walk away.
  • archiangel NTA First of all, she littered. Second, she flipped out on someone who rightfully called her out for littering in their neighborhood. Third, she feels no remorse, responsibility, or self-reflection. Your ex showed you who she is, you decided you didn't want someone like that in your life in the long run. Good for you.
