Neighbor demands teen's Disney+ login to watch a Tom Hiddleston Pompeii documentary, gets refused twice, and ends up facing serious consequences

Some neighbor disputes start over fences or noise. This one started over a Tom Hiddleston documentary, and it escalated further than anyone could have guessed.

It began on an ordinary morning. A fifteen-year-old girl took the family dogs outside to do their business, and before she could grab the doggy bags, her next-door neighbor approached with an unusual request: could she have the family's Disney+ login so she could catch up on a show she'd missed?

Only thing is, entitlement rarely announces itself directly. It shows up disguised as a small, reasonable-sounding request, one that assumes the answer will be yes simply because asking felt easy.

  • The teen, reasonably, said no. That's not her call to make, and handing out login credentials isn't something a fifteen-year-old should be pressured into doing for an adult neighbor. The neighbor didn't take the refusal well. "It's not like your mom would notice," she pushed back, apparently banking on the idea that a quiet password swap would go unnoticed. The girl held her ground anyway.

  • That should have been the end of it. Instead, the neighbor got angry, stormed closer, and demanded the login one more time. The teen said no again. The neighbor stormed off, stepped directly in the dog waste that had been left on the ground, and let out a string of the loudest swears imaginable. Karma, it turns out, has a sense of timing.

    All I plan to say to neighbor if she confronts me is, "buy your own subscription to Disney+ and I'm not paying for any new shoes." Update with edit: for those asking my daughter is fifteen and she called the police on the neighbor yesterday after I told her to do so because what the neighbor did is dangerous behavior.

    This morning I saw my neighbors sister who does my morning cycling class at 8:00 am and she told me how the police have charged her sister with second-degree trespass because the police. noted the sign at front of my driveway that says Private Property No Trespassing, communicating a threat and computer crime known as computer trespass.

The mother, recognizing that an adult storming toward her minor child over a password demand was genuinely alarming, told her daughter to call the police. The neighbor now faces charges: second-degree trespass, communicating a threat, and computer trespass, the last of which stems from attempting to gain unauthorized access to someone else's account. The "No Trespassing" sign at the end of the driveway didn't help her case either.

    Update Two: If anyone tries asking what the show was that she wanted to watch it was the three part documentary Pompeii Out of Time with Tom Hiddleston because apparently from a prior talk with her long ago she has the biggest crush on him and she likely just wanted to swoon over him instead of pay attention to what the documentary had to say.

And the punchline everyone wanted: the show in question was Pompeii: Out of Time, a documentary starring Tom Hiddleston. According to a prior conversation, the neighbor has a long-standing crush on him, meaning this entire ordeal, the confrontation, the doggo deeds, the report, was likely more about swooning over an actor than actually learning about Pompeii.
