How many warnings are enough warnings before you should actually act?

We all know those people who, no matter how many times you remind them of something they need to do, will never do it in time. Having a shared deadline with these people is quite the nightmare, because not only do you know they will never do it on time, you find yourself doing all the work at the very last minute, just to cover for them.

To that we say, don't let them get away with it. If you can teach them a lesson and make sure they don't disregard you like that again, do it. And if you can do it in a way that actually gets them to pay for their lack of responsibility, the better. As long as they are fully warned and know what will happen if they don't come through, you truly have nothing to lose.

Take the siblings below as an example. One sibling was paying for the car insurance of the other, while the other was supposed to pay them back every month. For a while, the brother really did pay on time, but after a few months he started slacking off. When the payments started to get stacked up, the other sibling decided it was time to cut the funding. The sibling gave the brother many warnings, telling him that if he didn't pay the money that he owed for the insurance, he would simply be removed from it altogether.

The brother failed to pay, and so he was no longer insured. When he was later pulled over and was caught driving without insurance, his license was suspended. And who did he blame? None other than his sibling, who had warned him enough times that this would eventually happen.
