"We play a staircase game with food to get our dog moving."

[deleted] Off leash hiking, fetch/training, occasional doggie play dates. Honestly the off leash hiking makes the biggest difference in terms of his behavior in the house.

TheEggplantRunner Own an insane senior JRT/rat who is... okay with dogs, but not really okay. We try and get him to a nearby park but can't go if it's packed. That being said, we play "staircase game" with food to keep him moving (using "come" and "go" up our big flight of steps). Also considering sneaking him to a tennis court to keep him moving.

Charles3Z We go to a local softball park because it's flat and grass is maintained. I use a chuckit to launch a racquetball for my 13 lb maltipoo, he'll go for about an hour straight with just a break or two.

Steris56 Arthur CA DCAT SCN CGC TKI Mostly daily 1.5h walks and some scattered "sniffy" walks throughout the week vs ball- chasing or flirtpole. I try to capitalize on her prey drive and work in some self control play.

[deleted] On workdays I do this with my 15 month old GSD (rain or shine): • 1 hour walk/jog first thing in the morning before work • 1 hour walk/jog when I come home from work • 30 minutes of play (tug, fetch, or wrestling) • 30-60 minutes training, split across several short sessions (obedience, nosework, etc.) • 30 minute walk before bed

[deleted] The chimutt gets one leashed walk a day for now. When I have more time she gets two. When I'm off she gets to run free in the woods with other dogs. The vizsla gets two off leash runs a day and some leashed walks. If everyone is working then she goes to daycare and then only gets one run off leash.

msmaynards 1-3 mile walk a day. Part sniffy, part training walk because he's driving me crazy. Just walking is starting to happen. Several minute long training sessions, mostly silly pet tricks as I'm lazy. Several short interactive play sessions with rules. Dinner theater. Holding a down stay is extremely hard work for the stinker. Add a dropped bit of food and it's a Herculean task.

minnowmudd Looks like my dog is a real potato! Our weekends are more adventurous, but during the week: • Morning: quick walk/potty trip - 5 mins... and she's dragging me back home for breakfast • Afternoon: off-leash dog park - 40 mins • Evening: sniffy walk -30 mins She also eats all her meals out of puzzle toys or via the "hunt the kibble" game. We'll do about 5-10 mins of trick training/day.

stopbuffering Dachadoodledoo Sniffy walks and training for mental exercise. Training walks (lots of heel and hill work), training sessions that involve bigger movement, fetch, and parkour for physical. It varies day to day what I do when because they don't need everything every day. On basic days it's just training walks or parkour since that tends to bust out some mental and physical. Louis' training sessions tend to be a little longer just because he craves it more and just needs more movement

[deleted] Mostly fetch in the yard/house or walks. Then once a week we go to agility training(for the older dog). I also do agility training in the yard with the older one and will start groundwork with the young pup pretty soon. She's too young to do consistent jumping, but there's some foundational behaviors we can start. They also play with each other often, so although I'm not directly involved they still get exercise from that.
