Senior Saint Bernard finally finds home when Reddit community rallies to adopt him after his mom lost their home and didn’t want to surrender to shelter: ‘A wonderful couple has reached, they sound like the absolute dream family for this fella.’

There's no denying that the circumstances that you find yourself in that cause you to give up a pupper are going to be tough. But just because you are going through something difficult, does not mean your doggo has to suffer to the greatest extent as well. A fact that this pupper pawrent was well aware off when she turned to the online community for help in giving her dog a furever home.

This tale of doggo adoption could have so easily been one of dumping. It began when an unfortunate streak of bad luck befell this pupper's pawrent. A series of events which would lead them to lose their home and move several times until it became unfeasible for his mom to keep dragging him from home to home when she could not find one that would allow him. Knowing this was the end of the line for them (at least for now) his mom had a choice to make. How was she going to pass this pupper on to someone else? A question that so many people must have had to ask themselves and when faced with the tough spot they had found themselves in, turned to the weak option of dumping the dog to hide their shame.

But our pupper pawrent was far more loyal to her pupper than that. She knew that her one final act of care for him would be to find the pawfect place for him to grow old in and see out his days. The kind of place that she simply could not give him at the time and the kind of place that would hopefully make up for the two of them having to split up. It is a heartbreaking decision to make, but when the upside is giving your dog a real life then you have to take it. Thankfully, a family was found after thorough vetting and just as his momma wanted for him this big oaf finally had a real home to live in.

Goodness, this is so incredibly heartbreaking. But as heartbreaking as it is, it is also so heartwarming to see a pupper pawrent take such care and responsibility for their pup. This is what it looks like when people treat their pets as not just simply animals, but family. And your family is something that you will care for to the best of your abilities for as long as you can until you have to put your hands up, admit failure and find them a suitable place to be cared for. It is the mature and dignified thing to do for everyone involved, hard as it may be.

If you are feeling worried for this pupper, then don’t be. Thanks to the overwhelming love that was poured into this post he was actually able to find a family who will love him and cherish him for all his drool and smelliness for the rest of his days just as he deserves. And they are right about shelter life for a doggo like him. He is a big boi and cannot be confined in any way shape or form to a kennel for so many hours in a day. It’s so wonderful to see people coming together to help a doggo in need avoid the senseless stress of the shelter system.
