Employee accidentally joins boss's private HR call about them: 'Am I going to get fired?'

Have you ever overheard something you wish you hadn't? 

Sometimes you stick your nose so far into something that things go wrong. Eavesdropping is an excellent activity. I do it all the time. It's so interesting to overhear things that are happening in other people's lives. Whenever I'm on the subway, and somebody is texting next to me, I always read what they're saying. Maybe it's an invasion of privacy, but we're in a public place, so I feel like it's fair game. Plus, what am I going to do with that information? I'm probably never going to see that person again and have no context for what they're talking about. But sometimes you overhear something that isn't from a stranger, and it holds a lot more weight in your own life. Maybe you accidentally open your partner's phone to see something that you didn't want to see. Or maybe you overheard a conversation at work that you probably weren't supposed to overhear. That's what happened to the employee in the story, who accidentally found out something that she probably would have rather avoided. Sometimes, though, things just happen by accident. Life is chaotic and random, and we don't always have control over what happens.
