It is one thing to wake up to the Christmas-like joy of finding a cat in a box plonked outside your front door. But it is a whole different story when that happens 3 times and you hardly have space to make the latest arrival to your cat rescue comfortable. But that is the story of u/Chuphojaabhai the heroic hooman who has dedicated his life to the love of cat kind.

You can tell that this rescuer is a truly lover of cats, if not only for the fact that he posted this story on Reddit's r/OneOrangeBraincell, a place for fans of brainless felines converge to cackle at the hilarity of a cunning cat with no concept of three dimensional space for example. So not quite the place you would usually post a rescue story. Nonetheless, the tale of this orange idiot is an endearing one and one that shows just how important it is to show up for cats, no matter the cost.

It is a story that shows how little you need to make an impact, and how vital people like this rescuer are. Without him in the picture and as a known member in his community, this kitten could have very well found itself on the side of a road, in a dump, or far worse. But thanks to this rescuer's fame in the community there was another, no guilt option available to at least attempt to ensure a decent continuation of life for the tiny cat who suddenly had no home.

    not sterilising community cats, I'm glad I was home before something worse happened. This guy was about to jump off the railing. Named him Bento because of the box. He gobbled two wet food packets like nothing, which is just more sad.

    My tone might seem amusing compared to the heading, but I just can't believe I have ONE MORE KITTEN. I run a very tiny rescue that has way too many cases, and I swore I wouldn't take another without getting the previous ones adopted.

  • This is kind of the equivalent to if you were a refuse worker and instead of you going about your planned route, people would just turn up at your home and dump their trash there for you. An unpleasant feeling to say the least, especially when unlike a refuse worker this hooman has to spend time and money caring for the new arrival. But when you take into consideration the myriad of awful ways in which this kitten could have been given up, this is not a totally terrible thing to have happened. The kitten is safe and with someone who can actually help it.

    Obviously I let him in, and within an hour he was on my lap. So yeah he's not going back to the streets. His health is good (except a skin infection), but now I need to find him a home too. I already have six cats waiting for months. Adoptions are definitely getting tougher with time.

  • We hate the idea that this person hates to put the burden on others, when that is exactly what others do to them. If anything this courageous rescuer of cats should be valiantly awaiting our applause and support for his heroic act. We can only hope that this incredibly deserving hooman got all the love and donations that he needed to help this sweet kitty. It is such a shame that the people who are actually out there doing the hard work unsupported are the ones with the least resources.
