"Aggressive shelter cat claims me first day on job"

I started working at an animal hospital this past year and this cat, Cavity, had been surrendered last year when his owner was being admitted to a nursing home. No one in the women's family wanted to keep him because of his tendency to bite.

Everyone at work warned me about his aggression, but I fell in love with this cat instantly. I went to the store the next day to buy treats for him and when no one was looking I would let him out of the kennel and play and feed him treats.

I begged my boss to let me take him home and finally got a "yes." He has been nothing, but a good boy since

Edit: he was actually supposed to be euthanized instead of surrendered but the doctor refused to put down a healthy cat thank god

oftheblackoath Does he still bite? We had a very bitey NFC, but he was always so sweet. The biting wasn't aggression, he just didn't learn boundaries as a kitten/young cat. He was abandoned a bunch of times, probably for the "aggression." This kind of behaviour is so easy solved in early age by getting two kittens instead of one and never letting them play with your hands, only toys.
notabruinsfan OP He does bite occasionally. I stepped on his toe the other day by accident and got a good bruise on my leg from his biting and when I pull out his carrier for the vets office he gets pretty spicy. He's usually pretty good, but I do still warn people when they meet him to not pet certain spots bc he will bite
nonEuclidean64 Cavity definitely made you type that after biting you. What a cutie. Made you post a pic of him looking all innocent and adorable too, knowing full well he's an orange baby
notabruinsfan OP he definitely bites when I get his vet carrier out
Its_me_jen331 The name cavity is purrrfection for a spicy orange fellow!
notabruinsfan OP My dad calls him root canal
leash_e I really hate that woman's family for trying to k | this cat.
notabruinsfan OP I know! I'm so glad our veterinarian refused
Direct-Sir-3388 is it safe to pet the belly? ED
notabruinsfan OP He only lets me he still doesn't like it when it's me but won't bite. Sometimes I poke his belly just to bother him
