Everyone gets more energy during the summer months, even cats. The only difference is that when cats get the zoomies, all laws of physics go out the window.

You know the term "cabin fever"? It's when you get antsy for staying in one place too long, and for us, that feeling only gets worse in the summertime. With the sun shining and the endless blue sky calling to us outside, we can't even consider the idea of not using up our summer vacation for a trip to the beach or a weekend camping in the great outdoors. Why stay inside when the weather (albeit hot) is purrfect for being outdoors?

The same is true for our cats - although we have to say it for safety reasons first: cats should only be allowed outside if they are leash-trained or have a safe, secure place to explore on your private property. Letting an indoor cat outside all of a sudden is just asking for trouble.

If you don't have either of those things, it's time to break out the feather toy and get your cats moving, playing, and jumping. Even if your cat is more of a lasagna-lover than a gravity-defying feline, just power them up with some summer sunbeams and they'll be ready to bounce off the walls in no time.

Cats are some of the most skilled pouncers out there. They make micro-adjustments with their legs to calculate the proper height and force required, and then land without a sound. It truly is an ameowzing feat. They can jump from the floor to on top of the fridge, from the top of the cabinets down to the floor, and look completely chill while doing it. And, as I'm sure you've noticed, they always land on their purrfect paws. You can thank their incredibly flexible spine and crazy-fast reflexes for that.
If you're thinking to yourself, “That doesn't sound like my cat at all! My cat is lazy!” That may be true, but on the inside, they are still cat. If they had to do a backflip every day in order to be fed, they would do it happily.

Notice how we called these cattos “skilled”, which most people often confuse with “graceful”. Anyone who has ever owned a cat knows that they just pretend to be graceful, but they are actually giant derps and clumsy as can be. You'll find a lot of very un-graceful pictures of these airborne cats below, and they make us laugh every single time.
