Why do we ever have to do anything?

August is one of the laziest times of the year. Kids are about to go back to school in a couple of weeks, and they've all but run out of fun summer things to do with their time. There were a couple of Augusts in my childhood when it was too hot to really go outside and enjoy yourself, so you were stuck in your house, either sitting in front of a fan or freezing from the air conditioning.
