  • Am I wrong for refusing to pay the adult price for a haircut?

I booked an appointment at a new salon. When I went to book a haircut for my 12 yr old daughter, I first booked the adult hair cut ($55) but then I saw they offered a kids cut for $20 less. I double checked to make sure it was the right selection. The
  • description of the service said for children 1-12 years old, "a custom hair cut by a stylist". I thought cool, this sounds right. My daughter wanted a pixie-like hair cut, but her hair wasn't even long to start with, it was past the shoulders but above chest level. When

we got to the appointment, I let my daughter describe the type of hair cut she wanted, after the consultation the stylist informed me that due to the type of haircut she would have to charge me the adult price. I told her

crazyforyou- The salon needs to clarify its pricing, not expect customers to guess which "kids" haircuts qualify.

  • MissSmkNmirrors Hairdresser here. That stylist was probably concerned about the time it would take. Most kids cuts take 20-30 minutes. A major shape change takes longer. That being said, my prices are the same regardless of how long it takes. If I don't have the time to do what the person wants I let them know and suggest alternative times or alternative services.

  • Vurrag The stylist was just trying to soak you for more money. Don't have a childrens cut if you never intend to give them. Also known as bait and switch which is illegal.

  • Select-Signal8386 Nope, you did exactly the right thing. It's on them to honor their prices. But you didn't say did she love her new hair style? :)

  • Imnotranee Either have kid cut prices, or don't. They can't expect every kid to have the same want and length of hair, and they can't expect customs to play a guessing game of what is considered a kids cut or not. They should just get rid of it all together if there levels to a kids cut
