Shelter pup finally learns to trust and smile again after volunteer spends hours patiently sitting with her, showing her she’s safe after being heartlessly dumped by the rescue in the middle of the night

The cruelty of some hoomans is simply beyond our reckoning. To be so desperate to dump your dog that you do so in the middle of the night when shelter workers won't be there to greet you is seriously sad. And only truly serves to make the experience tougher on the pupper who was left alone and confused for hours until shelter workers arrived.

This obviously put our pup quite on edge, heartbroken on the one hand and terribly afraid of hoomans on the other. This is a darling doggo who would require a pool full of patience and an underground car park's worth of understanding to bring back from the brink of never trusting in hoomans again. Thankfully, there was a kind soul waiting for her at the shelter, someone who saw a pup in need and had the time to sit with her and gently remind her of all the love and good things that come with connection. He reminded her that she can still be loved, and at that, by someone new.

Thanks to this volunteer's tireless work this pupper was able to find a family and live a happy and normal life together. But there are so many doggos out there who are not nearly as lucky as this one was. Most shelters do not have staff nor volunteers with the time and patience to take on a project like this. And in those cases a poor petrified pup like this can easily become more introverted and less trusting of hoomans. slowly causing her to be returned more and more frequently until she is simply unadoptable. So in this story we give thanks to this kind hooman and their heartfelt act of canine kindness.

Honestly, if it were not for the determination, dedication and love for doggos that this volunteer had this whole situation could have gone south. Consider that most techs and vets in a shelter are overrun by their normal work, and barely have time to dedicate to newcomers to the shelter. They cannot take the time to care about a scared pupper like this, and that would likely lead to her getting more and more aggro, which in turn would mean no one would adopt her… and we all know what happens to poor pups who don’t get picked up.

Such a fair point. This volunteer understands the reality of this situation being that right now this pupper feels safe in his hands, but that the moment someone else would be with her, it would mean starting from square one. And while he held the map it would still take time and patience for any potential pawrent to read that map and follow it to this pupper’s heart. An incredibly important quest that will bond this doggo and their future pawrent furever more.
