It is not a common occurrence to find weeks old kittens, no less in the gutter of all places, but that is where our tale of kitten rescue begins. A moment in which fate made it so that a knowledgeable cat pawson walked by a tiny catto in need and was ready, able and willing to do what it took to save the life of a purrecious feline soul.

Any seasoned reader of this page knows that cat rescues are no simple thing. And while the initial rescue of this cat was simple, considering she was weak, tiny and in the gutter, her recovery was anything but simple. Her rescuers spent hours night and day making sure that this kitten was going to make it. Feeding it, helping it go to the toilet and making sure it had the right medicines and supplements to get healthy. It is a non-stop cycle of work that requires incredible patience and perseverance. But before long their intense efforts paid off and the kitten was making appropriate weight for her age.

Which only leaves the mystery of how this poor kitten ended up in such a dire situation in the first place. The best case scenario is that her cat momma dropped her there and forgot her while moving between safe spots. This often happens to cats for one reason or another. And this is a reason we can live with and chalk up to the numbers game that mother nature likes to play. But if this is the work of a hooman, then this is a very different tale indeed. One full of darkness and bad deeds that cannot be undone.

Jheez, well that is a lot to take in all at once. First off how in the heck does a sweet kitten find themselves in the gutter covered in dirt? We really hope this was just an honest mistake by the cat’s momma while moving it from place to place, because if this kitten ended up in such a filthy place by a hooman’s hand, that means that something truly abhorrent has happened here. Thankfully though we would guess that this is no emergency type situation and that also long as the kitten is managing to eat and go to the toilet you are relatively safe.

Now that is impressive we have to say. But you could argue that being alone in a gutter with no food and no one to care for her might have set her back a bit and she was just waiting for any excuse to scoff down a bunch of food and grow. And it seems that she was rescued not a moment too soon, had she spent another night in the gutter there is a good chance she would not have made it. Could you imagine what it is to weigh as much as 2 quarter pounders and live in a gutter?
