  • I just passed my 6 month mark at my "new" job. I don't want to go into much detail about the company (I'm afraid of people from my work seeing this post), but it is customer service for a healthcare organization.
  • The company has a 9am meeting each week. The day can vary but it's always set in advance. Ours was today.

  • At 8:40 I took a call with a customer who was pretty upset. Around 8:55 my boss started bugging me to get ready for the meeting. I warned him I was on a call and might be late. He came into the room

  • After 30 minutes I resolved the issue and the customer actually thanked me for my time and my help. I got into the break room at 9:10. My boss stopped the

  • I've been angry for months so this was it. The organization is so mismanaged. The work is so stressful. I put out fires all day long and dread going in every day, and

  • F that. I already work a second job as it is! I'm sending out some resumes to see if I can get bites for better pay, but otherwise I'm just telling my other boss I'll switch to full time there. I know they'll have me.

  • But this job? I'm out of here. Honestly if I said "f you I quit" and just never went back I know they'd be shafted horribly. I think I'll do the nice thing and actually

  • vampyrewolf I'd send an email to the boss, cc their boss, and ask if going forward they would like you to hang up on customers in order to make it to the meeting, or would they prefer you to finish out the call and keep customers happy.

  • PRINT THAT REPLY. Copy in your desk, copy at home. Follow it to the letter. Customer on the phone at 0855? "Sorry, but (boss's name) has demanded that we MUST be at his meeting in 5min, you'll have to call back in an hour because we'll all be in the meeting"

  • Or finish the call out, walk into his meeting 20min late. Get yelled at for being late, "I was just acting as you directed me, remember the email from last week?" and see what kind of reaction it gets. They'll either go quiet for a minute trying to process how to give you sh for following their own directions, or turn shades of purple for everyone to see.

  • That email will be your golden ticket if you get hauled into HR or walk into the unemployment office. Personally I'd let them fire you for following their own directions and let the labour board know after you file for unemployment.
