Fear-filled ditched doggo finally learns to love again after accepting rescuer’s offer of food, cuddles and safety after months of evading capture and threats to eliminate the pup who: ‘Was dumped and mistreated, but still chooses love.’

To get into the mind of a dumped doggo on the run is something that is so hard to do. Not because they never stop moving, but because their decisions are rooted in deep seated fear and more often than not, they make decisions that work against them for no apparent reason, other than being full of fear. This is how this story's pupper protagonist lived for months, until one day he was finally able to let the fear go and take the helping hand of the hooman who came to save him.

We've seen it time and again. Doggos in distress simply do not make good decisions. It is not all too different than us hoomans when we are flustered and under pressure. We react more than we act, and in doing so we make silly decisions that end up making our life worse rather than better. So you can understand how a dog who has been dumped by their so-called furever family and left to waste away in a place that is strange to them. In a way of life that makes no sense to them.

And undoing that damage takes time, patient and perseverance. All three of which our rescuer had in buckets. Without these qualities she would not have had the wherewithal to dedicate herself to this rescue. Many other rescues might have given up when it became apparent that this would take days instead of hours. But our rescuer knew that time is not a factor when it comes to saving the sweet soul of a pup in need.

After receiving a few calls about a rouge pupper roaming this neighborhood, our rescuer stepped out to see what all the commotion was about.

But upon arriving, the pup got scratched and ran off into the shrubbery, not to be seen for another month.

And one fateful day a resident got in touch with a sighting of the doggo, and a disturbing message about it.

Thankfully, this time our rescuer came prepawed and was able to make safe and slow contact with the canine.

She returned to see the doggo everyday, slowly building trust in their relationship.

Each time she visited the pupper picked up the courage to inch a little bit closer.

But with time working against them it was determined that a trap would be beneficial to the rescue efforts.

Cameras were also installed. Not only to spy on the sweet pupper while sleeping, but also to study his movements.
