21 medical related memes for the overworked health worker that desperetly need a break
Are you a health worker? You need a break!
The medical field has the most interesting jobs and lives. Especially for me, since I have nothing to do with health care or being a health worker. What's intriguing to me is the emergency room dynamics. We have all seen at least one episode of a medical TV show such as Grey's Anatomy, ER, The Pitt, or whichever one you like. The fact that there are so many shows about that exact topic, and that they are the ones with the most fans, shows how much people get intrigue about the emergency room dynamics. It's interesting because if you aren't a health worker, you can't even imagine what life is like having to schedule everything around the schedule that you receive to be in the hospital. How do they maintain a love life? A family? Friends? Hobbies? It feels like their life is just work, which is not uncommon for other jobs as well. But the fact that they have in their hands the lives of so many people yet still cannot even get enough time to live or even sleep, feels like a threat. How are they able to perform well in their field if they aren't even getting 8 hours of sleep a night?
So, is being a health worker an insane job that has no regard for free time or work-life balance, even though it is of utter importance to society and, if not performed correctly, the implications could be terrible? Yes! That's it. It is what it is. But it does not mean that I don't find it completely crazy. They have the most important job. They save lives, but no, it's better to have them overworked and sleep-deprived than to actually give them normal work hours so that they can have a sane mind and an active body to work in their best way. Iwouldn't want to get a doctor at the ER who has been working for over 10 hours and still has a long night ahead, while eating some vending machine food that has no nutritional value and doesn't provide enough calories for them to stay standing, let alone think, and a contraction for sleeping 10 minutes in a chair in the waiting room. So maybe they need some free time… I'm just saying.
