Night-shift worker stays behind for a few extra minutes and meets a little kitten who couldn’t have picked a better time to appear

A night-shift worker stayed late to print a few papers and clocked out with a kitten.

It was around 1 a.m. when this longtime cat pawrent was finally leaving their factory job. As they headed out, a little kitten appeared from underneath the turn table and walked straight into their hands. Apparently the Cat Distribution System also works the night shift.

There was absolutely no way they were leaving him there. Temperatures had been over 100 degrees, and the industrial road nearby stayed busy with traffic. This was no place for a little kitten to be wandering around alone.

So they loaded him into a crate and drove an hour to the nearest emergency vet. The plan was to surrender him there. They already had a rescued senior cat and another kitty under a year old at home, and finances were tight after life had thrown more than a few curveballs their way. A third cat was definitely not in the budget.

They tried. They really did.

But around 6 a.m., that kitten was heading right back home with them. The CDS had spoken.

He got flea treatment that night, followed by a trip to their regular vet the next day for dewormer and more care. Then came a much-needed bath, which transformed the little guy into one seriously fluffy marshmallow.

They named him Lil' Bit, and apparently he's just as sweet as he looks. He even has a marking on top of his head that looks like a heart, because clearly he needed one more trick to make himself impossible to resist.

His new pawrent admits another cat wasn't what they expected or needed right now. But Lil' Bit walked straight into the right hands that night, and those hands weren't about to let him down.

We’re pretty sure rescuing a cat automatically earns you some serious good karma. You simply cannot scoop up a little kitty who needs help, get them somewhere safe, and give them a loving home without the universe taking note. Lil’ Bit’s new pawrent may not have planned on adding another cat to the family, but good deeds like this have to count for something. Consider that karma bank officially topped up.

The Cat Distribution System seems to have one very simple rule when it comes to the correct number of cats: whatever you currently have, plus one. Already have two cats? Congratulations, apparently you need three. Think your house is full? The CDS respectfully disagrees. It’ll just send another little face your way and let you figure out the details later. Lil’ Bit clearly got the memo, and we’re guessing the CDS considers this another very successful delivery.

We’re pretty sure everyone on the internet would like to send Lil’ Bit approximately a million hugs and kisses right now. Just look at that sweet little face! This tiny guy had quite the night before ending up somewhere safe, and now he deserves all the love coming his way. Consider this our official contribution of virtual cuddles, forehead kisses, and plenty of scritches. Hopefully his new pawrent can pass a few of those along from all of us.
