What's cuter than a kitten? A kitten that is curled up beside a baby.

Some people believe that having babies while also being pawrents is not a good idea. They're afraid the pets will scratch or bite the baby, or they fear the baby will accidentally pull too hard on the cat's tail or something like that. My take on it is quite simple: they're wrong. For kids, growing up with pets is one of the healthiest and most wonderful experiences of childhood. They learn to be careful, mindful of other creatures, and kindhearted, and they make their first friend for life. For cats, they stay active while playing with the kid, which is good for their health (otherwise, some of them are too lazy to exercise), and they get endless opportunities to satisfy their curious nature with all the shenanigans toddlers pull off on a daily basis. This doesn't mean that we let our kids or pets just roam free and do whatever they want to each other, not at all. It means that we'll take the necessary precautions for everything to run smoothly, and then let them get to know each other while feeling free.

Having a furbaby at home is no impediment to having a hooman baby, if that's what worries some people. Of course, some cats are less willing to trust the unknown than others, but that's just a matter of introducing the new member of the family in a nice, stress-free way, so our furballs have time to adjust and understand why that hooman is so tiny and why it cries so much. But trust me, once your kitten fully embraces the existence of your child, they will never be alone again. Cats are extremely territorial and protective creatures, so if they single your baby out from everyone, that's the end of it: that child has earned a loyal babysitter for life. The kitty will follow them everywhere, and it's more than likely that your child learns how to crawl by watching your cat. How lovely and cute would that be?
