‘I was worried a fox would eat him’: Injured baby seagull saved by delivery driver who delivered it to rescue where it was given a feathery furever family

Not all animal rescues are equal. Some are simple and straightforward while others are complex and convoluted. The rescue of this baby seagull is neither of those really, but it contributes to the world and animal rescue stories in that in a very surprising turn of events this bird was not only rehomed. But actually rehomed with a feathery bird family of the same species. Giving it a proper chance to live out a life in the wild as it was intended to do.

Seagulls are certainly not creatures that you might associate positively with. Often they are seen swooping in on trash and the occasional fry if they have the opportunity. But when this delivery driver in Scotland happened to hear the cries of a baby seagull all preconceived notions flew out of his mind and suddenly only one thing mattered, saving that bird. Left alone on the floor without the ability to fly it would easily be picked up by any number of predators including foxes or cats and its short life would come to a bitter end.

Thankfully that was not the case as this hooman stepped in to save the day and make the most marvelous thing happen for this bird. For while he was not able to locate the bird's family in the area in which he found it. He was able to get in touch with a rescue who instructed him on how to handle the situation and who actually found a bird family for this baby to join.

Being a delivery driver and moving around the city all the time there are likely many mysterious things that you see and hear. But a bird, flightless in an alleyway, well, that is quite the departure from the norm.

And a baby seagull of all things is certainly quite the oddity. We were not aware that baby seagulls even looked different from the adult selves.

And while this young bird might be on its own, it looks as though it is large enough to have left the nest of its own accord. So seeking out its family is likely quite the moot point.

Realizing that this poor scared creature was on its own and helpless, the driver took it upon himself to put out a helping hand.

Fearing that a predator would soon pounce on the helpless animal he set about trying to catch it and carry it to safety.

With the support of a local animal rescue he was able to put a plan in place to bring the bird to be fostered in their care.

Thankfully the flightless bird did not put up too much of a fight when it was corralled and came along quietly with the driver.

We bet that this driver never imagined that this storage unit would be used to transport an injured animal, let alone a sweet seagull.

After many twists and turns in the road, and from the stress, the seagull became quite unwell on the back of the bike. After all, she was built to fly not to coast on the open road.

Having finally made it to the rescue and located the staff to help, the bird was put through a series of test to make sure it was healthy and was taken in.

And in quite the surprising turn of events this bird is now going to be getting a whole new family to ensure that it lives a happy and fulfilled life.
