Everyone loves a pumpkin patch, it's the most wholesome fun for the whole family that just lets you embrace your inner child.

Autumn is the perfect time to embrace your inner child. The world starts slowing down, there's a shift in the energy of the universe as the cosmos, animals, and people all prepare themselves for winter weather. People start to take out their winter clothes, their sweaters, boots, scarves, and big blankets. Animals start collecting food to save for the winter's scarcity and coldness, and everyone has the tacit understanding of solitude, comfort, and comfortable lifestyles. Pumpkin patches are common this time of year because they become in season. They're a favorite among men, women, children alike for their bright orange color, sweetness, and markings of the season. There's something inherently cozy about pumpkins. Maybe it's their massiveness, their bright color, or their hollowness that makes you feel like it's something you can get lost in.

The leaves are turning golden, pumpkins are plumping up in their patches, squirrels are frantically gathering their winter snacks, and somewhere on the internet, another cat is falling off a chair. Nature is healing not only us, but the wildlife too. There are plenty of wonderful things to harvest this time of year. Apples are being picked, pumpkins are making their annual journey from the field to our front porches, and farmers' markets are overflowing with the fruits and vegetables. When I was a kid we lived a few minutes drive from a pumpkin patch. One of my favorite things to do was go there and play. They had these huge pumpkins that you could climb on and play inside of, it was the perfect thing for kids. There were hay castles, mazes, and of course lots of goodies to buy. We went to pick out pumpkins and carve them at home. Every year I made the same carving, which was a cat. There's something really magical about October and pumpkins. They're also healthy! I love making homemade pumpkin pie, pumpkin pasta, or just eating it roasted. It's so deliciously sweet and the color is just perfect for the season.
