Being a cat pawrent can be summed up pretty easily.

You wake up a pink nose in your face, the breath of a cat's mouth inhaling and exhaling right on top of you, and a few licks to your cheeks before you pull yourself from the sweet slumber you were in to feed this hungry kitty. You wake up to the cheer, smile, and morning barks of joy from your little one. They may not always seem like it but they're full of friendly friendship despite their chaotic appearance and behavior.

One second they're peacefully napping, paws twitching in dreamland, and the next, they're sitting upright and giving you a look that makes you question whether you're safe to fall asleep tonight. Their eyes are shining in hope that you'll give them what they want. And if they hear the crinkle of the treat bag, be prepared to give them something, because they won't stop until they have it. They might even sneak up behind you for something you're already eating, as we all know the hungry appetite of a cat. Heaven forbid you sit down for a bite without inviting them, or giving them a piece of what you're eating. They will throw their paws right on the table if they have to just for a bit of your bite. And there you have it! The world of cat pawrenting. But never fear, because all the hostility is simply on the surface of what's actually going on, and what's underneath is furry friendship, and cats that embrace feline friendliness.

We all need a friend in the world, and cats are no different. So if you're wondering why your cat acts so hot and cold to you, remember that they indeed love and need you, but they sometimes need to give the cold shoulder too. At the end of the day, they're still cats. And their love is expressed through the looks of anger, terror, or mischief.

Having good friends in your life can feel warmer and more supportive than having a partner sometimes. Your relationship with your partner is just different, it's meaningful in its own way, and intimate in ways you don't have with the girls. But usually the cat and owner friendships have something that others never knows about. Cats tell their owners everything. You may not realize it, but a cat's distant behavior is actually because they care. They care about your life and they want you to know about theirs. Just because they're sometimes distant in communication doesn't say anything about their actual love. Cats just express themselves differently.

My friends mean everything to me. I know I can call them family, I can call them in a crisis, and I can really rely on them for basically anything. We're in a girl's group chat where we're in basically constant contact with each other. There's nothing more special than a friendship in a way, because it's a bond that's without familial ties, and it doesn't have the pressures of a marriage or long term relationship.
