We can only imagine the rage that you must have felt in that moment. The rage and the outrage. Just hearing about someone doing this to an animal is shocking. It's hard to imagine seeing it. But we do see it. The writers here at ICHC… we see these stories all the time. Pictures of cats who have been rescued from the trash are posted all the time. We have very lovingly even named them in the community - trashcan kitties. Maybe I'm naive, but I've always imagined that the cats got there on their own. Looking for food, looking for a place to hide from weather conditions or other humans… and although that's probably true some of the times, this is something that happens more often than we know. Just… people being cruel for the sake of it. We're glad this one at least got what was coming to him when you reported him.

But we suppose that her happiness is all that matters in the end, and we're very sure of ourselves when we say that she likely wasn't very happy with her previous owner - even before he tossed her into the trash. She's better off with someone who actually cares about her and wants what is best for her. And we join the other people in these comments when we say: thank you. You did a good thing. You very well might have saved this cat's life.
