Who could have predicted that characters from a children's show would still resonate with its young audience even after they grow up? The way millennials were cooking up memes even from the start was clear foreshadowing. Of course we would memeify Elmo! Do you see that very palpable beef he has with that rock, Rocko? That is some true blue, deep-rooted, adult-level hatred there, and that's hilarious. We felt those kinds of big feelings as kids and didn't know how to handle them, but Sesame Street taught us how to! Those dudes punching through drywall didn't watch Sesame Street growing up and it shows…

Funny how these puppets are still relatable even when we're talking about going to our 9-to-5 job every day. Their facial expressions and one-liners hit just right and make so much sense, even to us adults! The blank stare of a puppet can sometimes be all you need to explain the big feelings you are having while waiting in traffic or when you're stuck at a lengthy meeting that could've been an email. Heck, how do we get paid to just be Cookie Monster? Is there a job out there that requires me to go absolutely bonkers over cookies, because I would be SO good at that job? I would be employee of the month every single month! I'd also probably, be physically unhealthy… But at least it would be my job!

There has been a trend starting amongst millennial parents lately, where they only share media from their childhood with their children. There have been some studies that show that shows from the ‘90s are actually mentally healthier for kids due to their slower pace and under-stimulating visuals. Basically, it’s calmer than the quick-hit TikToks kids are hooked on or the YouTube reels that use every editing tool known to humanity so far. With ‘90s media, kids are able to just sit, process, and chill out. They didn't even realize they were digesting important life lessons, like the ones they taught on Sesame Street. Perhaps we will pass the torch, and these kids will also appreciate the memes you see here. We know we'll continue sending them to all our nearest and dearest, even in the senior home!
