There's nothing wrong with wanting to enjoy the falling of the leaves, the first rain of the season, and the smell of pumpkin spice lattes from the comfort of our own homes. Sure, some houses might already be decorated for Halloween, and some people are really excited about taking their kids out for trick-or-treating, but that's still not enough of a reason to step outside. We can find ways to celebrate Halloween and enjoy the holiday spirit from inside without having to trouble ourselves with other people and the social responsibilities of being outside.
I love Halloween. I love coming up with creative costumes and dressing up my cats in sweet little outfits. But I can still do that and stay home. All that really matters is the pictures I take anyway, so who cares if the background is of some random decorated house or my own little spooky living room?
Scrolling through these introvert memes validates my feelings even more, as I hope they validate yours. There is a whole community of people out there who want nothing to do with others, and we should love and respect those feelings just as we do anything else. After all, someone has to stay home on Halloween so when kids come knocking on their door, they can hand them candy. Why shouldn't it be people who have no interest in being outside anyway?
You don't even have to talk to anyone, you can simply leave the bowl outside and refill the sweets every hour. If it's good enough for the kids, it's good enough for me.
