A gift wrapped in pink paper with a golden bow.
Have you ever gotten a gift you did not think much of at first, but ended up using it all the time? Sometimes the most useful gifts are things we would not have bought for ourselves. What was that gift for you?
Consistent-Camp-4396 At my friend's bridal shower, her cousin gave what I thought was such a cool gift and turns out she gives that gift every bride that she goes to their shower. it's a large container filled with generic thank you, birthday, condolence cards, etc. A large stamp roll,a package of pens, an ink stamp with their name and address on it. It also came with a little address book. it even had a little package of glitter if people add those to their cards.

YasMysteries Cute "chip clips": the kind that hold a bag of chips shut and sealed after opening. They come in handy in a big way Hear me out: wool dryer balls are actually a ridiculously underrated gift. They're one of those things people don't necessarily think to buy themselves, but once they have them, they wonder why they waited so long.

They're reusable, can help reduce drying time, soften clothes without fabric softener, and cut down on static. Plus, they last for hundreds of loads, so it's a gift someone will actually use instead of another random candle collecting dust. Throw a set in a cute little basket with some laundry essentials and you've got a practical, inexpensive gift that keeps on giving. Adulting is weird because apparently getting excited about dryer balls

smalltown_dreamspeak Fire extinguisher! My family never had one when I was a kid. I never thought about it. There was already one in a house we moved to when I was 19 and we ended up needing it when my dad started a fire on the stove. I guess a lot of people would know to have one, but sometimes you just don't learn or think about something until it's too late.

There are regular fire extinguishers and there are also spray-can sized ones for small fires, I would say if someone loves cooking, or candles, or smoking, or whatever- it doesn't hurt to give a fire extinguisher.

Yiayiamary A friend gave us a set of six pasta bowls. We don't eat pasta much, 3-4 times a year) so I was not very enthusiastic. Well, we use them 9-10 times a week! They are good for everything. We are retired and lazy, so we eat in our chairs. Even small baked potatoes and meatloaf work in our pasta bowls.

MM_in_MN Any housewarming, I gift a fireproof document safe. It's what our realtor gave us when we bought the house, and it's become my 'welcome to adult responsibilities' gift when they buy a house, or move into their first one.

Story Mello A really good quality blanket. It sounds like a boring gift, and most people wouldn't think to spend much on one for themselves, but once you have an super soft and cozy blanket, you end up using it everyday. The best gifts are those which actually integrate into your daily life

ShoeNatural6097 A little plug in egg cooker. I LOVE boiled eggs, as a snack, soft boiled for ramen, egg salad, deviled, you name it. I no longer have to monitor the stove or even set a timer. I put the amount of water in for what I want, and press the button. Continue getting ready or whatever I was doing. And I come back to perfect eggs.

kdeans1010 My sis got me stamps. I will never get myself stamps, but my sis got me a couple sheets of Mr. Rogers and sunflower stamps. It was so incredibly thoughtful and I would never do it myself.

nomtnhigh I am a sewist, and my mom once gifted me a beautiful hand turned wooden seam ripper. It had never occurred to me to have a fancy one vs a regular cheap seam ripper, but it's a beautiful object. Every time I pull it out (in a time of frustration) it gives me pleasure just in holding it, and makes me think of my mom with gratitude.

audvisial A portable jump starter. It's bailed me out more than a couple times, and I never thought I'd use it.

Missus Aitch_99 My mother gave me a stand mixer, and I was an idiot who thought "why did she give me that? I don't like to bake." Turns out I didn't like to bake because I lacked a stand mixer; now I love to bake. Mother knew best!
