They want 30 years of experience for a $19 an hour part-time job
I have to imagine that this is a position intended for somebody who is "retired," but still wants or needs a part-time job to subsidize their retirement fund, because they can't completely afford to live on their savings alone. That could be the case, or it could be for someone who is "retired" but still wants a part-time job so they have something to do during the day and don't go from working full-time to not working. They have enough money to live, but want the social aspect, which is why they are willing to accept a salary close to minimum wage. If I were a betting man, I'd bet this ad targets retired medical professionals willing to take a low-paying part-time job just to get out of the house.
Based on the job alone, I really doubt this role requires 15 to 30 years of experience. Maybe the boss has hired young, inexperienced people for similar positions before, and they haven't been responsible. Maybe they don't want somebody who is going to scroll through TikTok on the job. Say what you will about baby boomers, but at least they know what is appropriate and inappropriate in the workplace. They might be as addicted to Instagram Reels as any Gen Zer, but they know that if they're working at the front desk of a doctor's office, they shouldn't use their phone under any circumstances.
I imagine that if they are trying to hire retirees, they aren't applying to jobs on Indeed. Chances are they already know who they want to hire for the position. Maybe she is the mother of one of the doctors or nurses at this facility, and they created this job posting based on her unique qualifications instead of her applying because she meets the posting's requirements. I know that this happens in the corporate world sometimes (a company wants to hire somebody internally and creates a job posting just to say that they posted a job, not because they're interested in any of the candidates), but I don't know about the medical world.
