I found Anne with an E scrolling through my Netflix profile one day. It was a quiet afternoon, and I was looking for something silly to watch. The kind of content you can sleep through. Of course, those of you out there who have watched the show know exactly what I was jumping into. Endless hours of obsession and tears, while also getting funny looks from my neighbors as I constantly screamed at the TV. In other words, pure joy.

I never expected to be so invested in a group of people living in a place with the name "Green Gables", but here I am. I also never expected to bawl my eyes out over the pieces of a shattered letter, and yet, I'm starting to get emotional just by writing about it. It was truly a magical place I wish we could go back to. But because it got cancelled, the best I can give you is an excellent collection of memes that will have you remembering why we all loved Gilbert in the first place. Plus, if you feel like you need another reason to be angry at Netflix, this is also a friendly reminder that we could've had a 4th season. But since it hasn't happened, the only thing you can do now is continue to relentlessly insist that your friends watch the entire show and laugh at these very kindred memes.

It's been a couple of years since I first watched the show, but it remains a very special place in my heart. Back then, I came into the world of Anne looking for copper, and I truly found the shiniest gold. I still try to connect with my inner Anne when life seems troublesome, and I need a little extra optimism and imagination. The character is a testament to the joys and triumphs you can find in the midst of difficulty. A story that was simply splendid and blissful. Yes, I’m using big words now because I learned that: “People laugh at me because I use big words. But if you have big ideas, you have to use big words to express them, haven’t you?”

The wisdom that came from the kids in this story is impressive. Leave it to Diana to show you what true friendship looks like when she finds herself screaming at Gilbert in the middle of a train. Or leave it to Gilbert, to rise to the occasion when things at home get hard, and give a helping hand to those who need it most. And, of course, leave it to Billy Andrews to completely drive everyone insane. I’m not saying he could ever take Joffrey’s place, but he does come as a close second at times. Never imagined a teenager could be so absolutely annoying.
