This will forever be one of the funniest memes of all time. Who is the mom supposed to be dressed up as?

Both Peter Pan and Beauty and the Beast have so many good supporting characters that you can easily do a whole family costume without even including the main character! This mom could've easily been Wendy (especially since her husband is Peter Pan), but she wanted her daughter to wear the pretty dress. It's way better to be the parent in the silly costume than the parent earnestly trying to out-ingenue their toddler. Imagine if Paris Hilton had dressed as Maurice? That would have been iconic. That's what Heidi Klum would do!
If I were the creative director for the Hilton family Halloween photoshoot, I would let her daughter be Belle, her son be Lumiere, Paris be Mrs. Potts, and her husband be Cogsworth. Or even better, her son is Maurice, Paris is the feather duster, Dad is a fork, and her daughter is still Belle.

If you're casting an adult-only production of Beauty and the Beast: The Musical, the only child actor would be Chip. However, just because he's the only major child character in the movie doesn't mean one of the children needs to dress up as him. I was Ursula from The Little Mermaid when I was 9!

Some people think that parents dressing up in costumes related to their kids is attention-seeking, but I disagree. I think that if you have one child who wants to be something, it's fun to coordinate, like this mom did.
What I don't like is when larger families force kids to choose a Halloween costume that fits their family "aesthetic." If one kid wants to be Princess Jasmine, and the other wants to be a Stapler, you shouldn't force the Stapler to be Jafar because the whole family is doing an Aladdin-themed costume based on one of your children's whims! You can do a coordinated-costume photoshoot for the Christmas card, but when it comes to trick-or-treating, kids should get to choose what they want to be.
The one time when you can pick your kids' Halloween costumes is when they're babies, before they can express opinions. You should choose that costume wisely, because you'll never be able to convince your kid to go along with your idea ever again. Don't waste it by dressing them up as a pumpkin.
