Coworker bringing dog that doesn't go to bathroom outside.

Hi, I am a 22yo female. I just got a new job working in a call center for a company about a month ago. So far I have liked the job, it is a smaller company that is based in my hometown, so when I say 'call-center' it's not what you're thinking of. There is only myself and 1 other woman taking calls. We have our own office, it's
not much to look at and it's a tiny room, but it's ours as least and we don't have to share with anyone. My coworker is in her mid 40s, she also just got hired about 2 weeks after I did.

First off, I want to say it was reallyyy hard to train someone when I just barely got trained myself, but I persevered and went above and beyond. I made cheat sheets, scripts, you name it. I was trying to help make this woman's training process go smoother than mine did. And honestly she's pretty competent so it hasn't been so bad. Up until this morning.

For context, my coworker is friends with the HR guy that hired me. I think they also might be a little more than friends because they drive to work together and live in the same house, but they say that they're just friends, so I won't speculate too much. My coworker informed me this morning that she was going to

bring their dog in tomorrow so she could take it to the groomer's on her break. I'm not a big dog- at-work fan, but I figured it'll be fine if it's just one day. I said that's fine, and then she mentioned that she'll have to bring pee-pee pads in, because the dog doesn't like going to the bathroom outside.

This is where I'm having an issue. I don't want to work in an office where an animal is and sting right next to me. Our office is already really small and cramped with 2 humans, there's no ventilation. I also feel like she kind of entrapped me because she only mentioned the pee-pads AFTER I said I didn't mind if the dog came. I also feel like there's nothing I can do about this because as I mentioned before, she's really close with the HR guy AND it's HIS dog.

I need some advice. I just got this job and I really want to stay as I have enjoyed my time here up until this point. If this lady wasn't besties with HR, I would've just went to him, but I feel like I can't. Are there any employee laws or protections that would help me with this?

WeCantStabilize You're allowed to recant your consent in light of the indoor pooping. The dog is borderline enough, but this is egregious. Say no, talk to HR to make sure they know.

WallInside6758 You've been there a month. Trying to get the office dog. removed probably won't go over well. Will probably be considered a poor culture fit. You can ask, but there are no laws against a dog using pee pads in a private office.

If it's something you can't deal with, take the experience and look for a job with a more comfortable environment for you.
