Seven of us rented a cabin for a long weekend. We've been friends since college and had this trip planned for months. One of the girls brought her boyfriend, who decided the first night was the perfect time to propose. Right in front of everyone, during dinner. She said no. Not even a maybe. She started
crying and told him she'd already explained she wasn't ready for marriage. He got embarrassed, they argued for a bit and he ended up driving home that night. Obviously the mood was completely ruined. We stayed up with her for hours and tried to make her feel better. The next morning she announced that she wanted to leave and

asked everyone to pack up because she couldn't enjoy the trip anymore. Two friends immediately agreed. I said I understood why she wanted to go home, but didn't see why all seven of us had to cancel a vacation we'd been planning for months. She got really upset and asked if I seriously cared more about a cabin than her relationship falling

apart. I told her I cared about her, but I also didn't think the rest of us should have to go home because her boyfriend chose the worst possible moment to propose. That apparently was the wrong thing to say. Three people ended up leaving with her and four of us stayed. Now the group is completely

divided. One friend said I basically forced everyone to choose sides when we should've just supported her. I feel bad about how I said it, but I still don't think staying was unreasonable.

nyxnnax Did she want you all to spend the rest of your long weekend with her at her house or??? If so, why not just stay? It's completely understandable for her to be upset and not want to stay for a mini-vacation but I don't understand why she thought you guys should leave, too. That doesn't make any sense.

tropicsandcaffeine Why should everyone cancel because of something like this? A good reason why not to travel in groups - too much drama.

Boogity2024 NTAH and I don't get it either. What would everyone going home accomplish EXACTLY??

KittyyyMeowww I'm confused. She was more than welcome to go home if she wanted to, and if some friends wanted to accompany her... good for them, I guess. But the audacity to think EVERYONE has to leave a vacation you all already paid for and traveled to is... borderline unbelievable. At the very least, extremely selfish. Personally, if I was her I'd stay and have the best time ever! She is the

one who declined the proposal, so I'm not understanding why she'd want to go home and cry instead of having fun. It's her prerogative, though - but she doesn't get to force everyone else to miss out just because she chose to turn down her boyfriend's proposal! Also, you didn't force anyone to 'take sides'; people have free will.

Jessic14444 Your "friend"s ks in this situation. Like I get she needs support and is upset...but expecting everyone to drop everything for her emotions is quite selfish. Like you can support her and still have fun at the cabin. If she wants to go, she shouldn't be dragging everyone with her. Also, 4 people stayed with you and they clearly didn't agree with just ending everything b/c the boyfriend is a moron. I'm almost certain that the bf

never talked about marriage with her; he believed that he knew what she wanted and it backfired majorly. Sure you can feel bad about the situation but she is pretty entitled to think that she is so self-important that it has to ruin everyone else's planned and PAID vacation. She is not very mature...not for a relationship and definitely not marriage.

SHE DIVIDED EVERYONE BY EXPECTING EVERYONE TO FOLLOW. She is using you as the scapegoat for ruining everything instead of confronting her own selfish desire to make everyone go home ...and to do what exactly? Be bored at home? You decided to speak out what the others weren't willing to do. Otherwise you would have been in that cabin alone. They made that decision on their own and shouldn't spite you for giving them the option that they clearly wanted to make.

Admiral_PorkLoin How can someone be so self-centered to demand everyone cancel their vacation because HER mood was bad? How selfish is this?

One_taureanmama Nta shes the a hle for bringing her dude n on a girls trip. You should have said. I refuse to let ur ex ruin my trip the way u let him ruin urs. If u never brought him we'd all be having a blast right now. Its already paid no, just no
