It's time to give credit where credit is due.
It's interesting to see how completely thoroughly people have embraced TikTok. The app, which allows people of all ages to share short videos, has become something that even the most prestigious outlets report about. Creators on the platform have followings in the millions, and sometimes make money within the same range. It's easy to brush a lot of the content off as silly, or unnecessary (and you wouldn't always be wrong), but many of the videos shared by creators are thoughtful endeavors that showcase serious creativity, intelligence,, and a whole lot of humor.
Yesterday, Twitter user @WrittenByHanna asked their followers (and the whole of Twitter, really) to share TikToks that they believe deserve Oscars. The tweet was inspired by the recent announcement that TikTok has become an official partner of Cannes Film Festival - and will be hosting a short film competition on the app.
This one really takes the cake - and for those of you who can't understand Scots or the brogue, a kind follower wrote a transcript for untrained ears. We watched this one at least eight times.
