In June 2011, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Jose Antonio Vargas laid bare his deepest secret, in a piece he penned for the New York Times Magazine -- he is a Filipino man who's been living undocumented in America since he was 12. Now, Vargas opens up to Buzzfeed in a piece called "Bright Lights, Big Secret" about the past year -- the unexpectedness of becoming an activist, his friends lost and gained -- and his plans for the future. "As a general rule it's not a crime for a removable alien to remain in the U.S," says Jose Antonio Vargas, reading from Justice Anthony Kennedy's brief on the recent Supreme Court decision on immigration. "When I saw that I was like, 'Okay, well, I guess that means that I'm no longer illegal.'"
