The Los Angeles Times' Jay L. Clendenin was just one of many to photograph the U.S. Olympic team before its members headed to London.
But he was the only one to shoot dueling portraits of the athletes, using both a modern digital camera, and a 4×5-inch field camera paired with a 100+-year-old Petzval lens.
The resulting juxtaposition of old and new is pretty sick. Don't miss the rest of the series.
