When you tear down your fall decorations to make room for your Christmas lights on November 1, don't throw your leftover pumpkins in the trash. Instead, feed some piggies. Via: Country Living
A local nonprofit organization in Knoxville, Tennessee, is asking for help to provide food and shelter for their pigs—and your seasonal decor is exactly what they're looking for.
Pumpkins and squash offer a good source of vitamins and minerals to the farm animals at Hooves and Feathers Humane Society, and straw bales provide warm shelter in the winter.
All unpainted decor (yes, even carved jack-o'-lanterns are accepted) can be donated to the Hooves and Feathers front gate located at 2551 Cunningham Road in Knoxville from now until November 30.
The shelter asks that those leaving donations provide a note containing their name, phone number, and mailing address so they can receive a thank you card from the pigs.
