A Twitter hashtag prank that entails publicly spying on a random teenager has entered a new chapter this week, as teenagers began firing back at the stalking adults with their own mocking hashtag campaign #FollowAnAdult. Though first proposed by Something Awful columnist David Thorpe in late 2011, the practical joke took off only recently after BuzzfeedBuzzfeed shed a light on the idea (for the second time) in late April, which was soon followed by the teen culture blog Rookie Magazine proposing to counter the prank by reporting on the mundane lives of their "adult stalkers" on Twitter.
