Don't Hold Out Hope for That Netflix Zelda Series; Iwata Says It's Just a Rumor
In an interview with Time, Nintendo president Saruto Iwata crushed dreams and dispelled rumors that Netflix is involved with a Legend of Zelda tv show:
The show's existence seemed questionable to begin with, but if you're desperate to keep hope alive, note that Iwata does say the rumors are "inaccurate" and not flat out false. Maybe there is something in the works, just not with Netflix. Or maybe Netflix is working on something for Nintendo, just not a Zelda series. Or maybe nothing is happening at all. There's that possibility too.In early February, the Wall Street Journal reported that Netflix was developing a live-action series based on Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda franchise. But Mr. Iwata says those rumors are inaccurate.
“As of now, I have nothing new to share with you in regard to the use of our IPs for any TV shows or films, but I can at least confirm that the article in question is not based on correct information,” says Iwata.
