Service animals are a wonder. It's incredible that we've been able to train domesticated animals to save the lives of people who need assistance. While it's truly amazing that people struggling with physical and mental illnesses or disabilities can receive assistance from a service animal, this thread points out just how easy it is to fake these needs to abuse the system. And unfortunately, it happens all the time. I'd wager that many of the people you see on the subway, in restaurants, at bars, are getting away with a pretty big deception. They claim their "emotional support animals" are the same things as "service animals," which we all know is blatantly untrue just by looking at how the animal behaves. Lying in this way can give service animals a bad reputation, complicate the lives of people who really need the animals, and could even hurt people. This Tumblr thread couldn't cover these issues more perfectly.
