Rebecca Katz, a Long Island nanny, who was caring for her employers kids (aged 4 and 6) since they were babies gave up her job to rescue Tigger.
Katz nannied for a family called the Bermans, and on July 2, Katz tells the New York Post that the mother allegedly told her, "'Smell this. Tigger just threw up on my nice couch … Once he throws up on my nice furniture, that's the end, he's getting the boot, he's getting the needle. Tigger's going to the vet."'
"And I said, 'Oh, maybe the vet will get him new food.' "
Horrifyingly, Katz claims the mother smirked and said, 'You think he's going for a check-up tomorrow? He's getting put to sleep.'"
Katz knew right away she had to rescue Tigger.

“Aging pets have rights, too,’’ Katz said. “They put their cat on the curb … and I picked up the garbage.”
Katz called Tigger a "sweetheart" and a generally "healthy cat".
After she heard the mother parading around saying, 'Tigger is getting the needle, Tigger is going to Heaven,''' Katz left her employers a note saying, "I can't let this happen" on the kitchen counter and left with Tigger.
The Bermans were furious and texted Katz to return Tigger or they'd call the police. Katz panicked and admitted that she had no right to take him but refused to return him.

The family went to the cops and Katz spent 2 hours in a holding cell before being charged. “I am willing to go to jail and sleep with cockroaches over this, because this animal has a right to life,” said Katz.
The nanny still has Tigger in her possession as Katz has already spent more than $1,000 on medical check-ups for Tigger. The results were "inconclusive" of anything serious.
Katz said the Bermans offered to pay the vet bills if she were return Tigger but she doesn't plan on returning him, stating she doesn't trust them. And Luckily for Katz, Judge Rhonda Fischer is seemingly on her side as she denied the original family's request for the return of Tigger, in court.

But the battle is not over, the case resumes on August 14th and the judge will hopefully make, the right, and final decision on Tigger's future.
As of now, Tigger is with Katz and she is determined to keep him with her, safe and fighting for his right to live out his senior years.
We're on your side, Katz! Good luck!
