If you thought you were muddling through a tough Wednesday, sit back and count your lucky stars that you're not the guy who threw away his life savings (that he kept in a shoe box) of $23K. Ouch.
Last Thursday this man from Ashland, Oregon accidentally threw away his life savings of $23K into the recycling bin. Upon realizing his dreadful mistake he immediately contacted Recology, which is a company that provides garbage service to over a million homes and businesses in Washington, Oregon, and California. The odds of anything shaking out in his favor from there were quite slim, but lo and behold he ended up getting the lucky break of his life.
"We take quite a bit of material every day so the odds of finding that are not much better than a needle in a haystack," said Linda Wise, general manager of the Samoa Resource Recovery Center operated by Recology.
