We only have a few token Japanese in management positions that have nothing to do with my line of work so I wouldn't impress them even if I spoke Japanese. It would help with my work, but the language seems frightfully difficult. I know I'm better at learning European languages. The last one I took was Italian.

My daughter & I both would prob'ly "go native" as far as food goes. Fortunately, we have quite a few good Japanese restaurants here where we live. On the sad side, most of them are too expensive for more than a visit on special occasions. My daughter learned to use chopsticks when she was 3 & we're going to teach her sons early, too. I always got a giggle out of taking her somewhere when she was small. She'd push the silverware aside & ask for chopsticks. She even taught herself a little Japanese & would rather watch her anime sub-titled in English. My kid!
