It's fine if someone wants to repackage an idea I had. We all do that with memes. This guy, though, simply copied the .jpg of one of my lols that had been on the Animal Capshuns front page months ago, and re-posted it today with his name in place of mine. Not wanting to ambush someone with a friend request just to call him out on his own dashboard (too dickish for me), I put up the public notice to make people think twice about rank plagiarism and I reported the lol as incorrectly credited. No hate for homie, but I'm not going to have it; know what I mean?

To copy someone else's lol is unethical and show not only bad manners but also a lack of caring about that person who is your friend.

The ethics and etiquette is the same as you would show any friend. There are factions, but you don't have to worry because you can be friends with all sides and stay out of the snarkiness. The bottom line is to show good manners like you would in real life.

Re: the one with the copyright. If the person who took the photo didn't want you to use it, she can block it when she makes a lol. It's a little box you check. Cheezburgers used to have a photo credit, but they took it away with Beta. You still see a few though. However, for the most part it means things like Cheezeburgers cannot include the photo in their book (they are working on number 3) without the permission of the person who took the photo. But, you can use it for a lol if she didn't block it

No. I don't fave them and I don't particularly want someone who does that as a friend so that limits the possibility of having one around. If I see one, I'll let you know. It doesn't happen that happen because you are in a particularly good group of friends who wouldn't do that to each other. Most of the time it is a stranger

Let's say you find a photo you like and you come up with a caption that is completely your own. Then you post it. Then maybe the same day or the next, but soon enough to remember it, someone takes your photo,copies your caption and re-posts it like they did it. That's really copying. Sometimes they change the photo, but normally the words are exactly the same. That's copying if you came up with it

No apologies necessary. Some people copy a lol by mistake and some actually do it intentionally. Winnie did her site to expose and embarrass the one that did it on purpose. Hai Thanks for the friends request. I see you favored a lot of doggy lols. The one with the pit bull in the walker reminds me of Lilly the pit bull who saved her owner from a train but but got hit herself. She lost a front leg wonder if that picture is Lilly.
