We wouldn't have had it except that my dad had very bad asthma, so they bought one unit for their bedroom as a 25th wedding anniversary present to each other. We kids were not allowed in there unless we were truly ill (which my mom never believed we were). So, I got to see it in 1967 but not experience it until I went to college a year later.

Yep! I remember it well. I think I was 17 when my parents bought their first a/c unit, which was HUGE and which, of course, went in *their* bedroom :)
