So often, we find ourselves recommending cat ownership to people. Cats bring so much joy into our lives, so much calmness, so much serenity (and shenanigans and craziness, but mostly serenity) that we can't help but want to share that joy with others. We know that there are so many cats out there who need forever homes, so- what's the harm in recommending it? Well, the thing is… some people are not meant to be cat owners, and so they end up adopting cats and returning them for silly reasons. It baffles us. We could never imagine it, but it does happen, and those cats who thought that they found their forever homes end up realizing that they did not.
Today, we have some of these stories. In a thread about this exact this that went viral a few days ago, people shared their stories of adopting cats who have been returned to shelters and actually giving them their forever homes. So, here are the most wholesome cat adoption stories that we found in that thread. Bring out the tissues, guys, and get ready for the feels.

We honestly cannot imagine ever doing that with our kitties, but unfortunately, we know that it does happen. So while we do think that you should continue recommending cat ownership to people, do try to make sure that the people you recommend it to are kind people with good intentions who would - hopefully - not do this.
And also, when you do recommend it to people, if you see that they're actually interested (and you know that they've never been cat owners before), make sure that you let them know what they're getting into. Yes, cats are relatively low maintenance pets, but that doesn't mean that they're entirely non-maintenance.
