Greg Louganis hasn't been involved with the Olympics for 20 years, but this year he makes his return as a coach for the U.S. Diving Team.
The significance of this, though, goes far deeper than a former gold medalist making a triumphant return to the international stage.
Producer Will Sweeney is determined to make sure that today's generation knows Louganis' story.
There are so many people around the United States -- and the world -- who have very fond memories of Greg -- cheering for him after he hit his head, how his autobiography made it okay for them them come out, how he helped Americans put a face to HIV. But there is a whole generation of young people who haven't heard about Greg and his incredible story.
Sweeney and his fellow producer Cheryl Furjanic have created a Kickstarter for a documentary that will "address issues that are important to (Louganis) -- combating bullying and homophobia and the need to support elite athletes that move on after their athletic careers are over."
They've raised more than $14,000 toward their goal of $50,000, with donations ending in 28 days.
