The Pirate Bay founder and international fugitive Gottfrid Svartholm was arrested Thursday at his apartment in Phnom Pehn, Cambodia. The 27-year-old Svartholm had been on the lam since 2009 after a Swedish court sentenced him to one year in prison for crimes related to running one of the world's largest BitTorrent sites.
Svartholm's lawyer, Ola Salomonsson, wouldn't confirm if the arrest was related to skipping out on his prison term, but considering he missed two appeals hearings -- one legitimately, one not -- and his sentence was upheld, odds are Sweden really wanted him back. Although for his sake, Swedish prison is probably a lot more inviting than Cambodian prison.
