The OP got a little confused in the pre-20th century. Mozart came before Beethoven, and both were known for tying in the sonata with everything (you can have orchestral sonatas). Also, "gospel music" would probably better describe Ray Charles than medieval church music. But the point of this post is spot on IMO.
