Why is it that you have to get your PTO approved? Like, it's your PTO, you should be able to use it whenever you want. You should only have to get the days off that aren't PTO approved, because those days aren't in your contract as a given. But the PTO days are contractually yours. You get those days, and those are your days to use. It should be none of your manager's business. In fact, it is a courtesy of you to even give them a heads-up. Approved or not, I'm at the beach, boss. Bye!

Many jobs can be done remotely these days, anyways, so why does it matter if I'm doing it from home or from a vacation rental near the beach? Like, I'm still doing it, right? I can take PTO if you'd rather, but if that's the case, then you will not be able to reach me. Sorry, PTO means I am GONE GONE. No, “oh, I'll be available on Teams if you need me,” or “Just Slack me if something goes wrong and I'll try to answer.” None of that. Taking PTO means I am clocked out from work completely. If ya don't like that, sorry, not sorry. You can go meme about it.
