Didn't See That Coming of the Day: Police DNA Test Unable to Tell Which Twin is the Criminal Suspect
Identical twin brothers in France are being held in police custody after police DNA tests were inconclusive over which one of them committed a sexual assault. The test did confirm that one of the 24-year-old unemployed delivery drivers, Elwin or Yohan, did commit six sexual assaults throughout Marseille between September 2012 and January 2013. However, since their DNA is nearly identical and a victim could not tell them apart in a lineup, the real perpetrator is unknown. Police would have to shell out nearly 1 million Euros (roughly than $1,319,285 USD) to pay for a sophisticated test that would be able to parse the minute differences in the twins' DNA.
